What we do

Conservation Through Public Health::About Us::What we doConservation Through Public Health works in three program areas namely: Wildlife Health Monitoring, Human Public Health and Information, Education and Communication.

Wildlife Health Monitoring

Long-term health monitoring of wildlife as an early warning system for disease outbreaks prevents disease transmission between people, wildlife and livestock.
CTPH facilitates health monitoring training workshops with the Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (BINP), who in turn record clinical observations of gorillas using data sheets and handheld computers.
The CTPH Field Clinic for Mountain Gorillas and Other Animal Species then examines the gorilla samples.
A similar model is being setup in Queen Elizabeth National Park with savannah animal species.
