WDA-Uganda Chapter (Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries, Uganda Wildlife Authority, Conservation Through Public Health, Chimpanzee Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Trust, Makerere University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Uganda Wildlife Education Centre) is organizing the 5th Wildlife Disease Association meeting for Africa and Middle East Section from 5th to 8th August this year, and this is the first time that it will be held in Uganda. The Africa and Middle East Chapter started at a WDA meeting in Pilanesburg, South Africa, in 2001 and has since grown from strength to strength.
The meeting brings together people involved in wildlife disease and conservation issues from all over Africa and beyond to give papers on their experiences. They will also discuss practical strategies and recommendations for future wildlife management, ecotourism, agriculture and sustainable livelihoods.
The outcome of this significant event will prevent and control fatal wildlife diseases in Africa and the Middle East. This will greatly enhance the potential and growth of the ecotourism and agriculture sectors, the back bone for economic growth in the region.
