CTPH RECEIVES 0,000 MACARTHUR FOUNDATION GRANT!
Oct 24, 2009
We are pleased to report that the MacArthur Foundation has approved CTPH for a grant of 0,000 to help the Uganda Wildlife Authority address the threat of wild animal disease in two of its national parks in Bwindi Impenetrable and Queen Elizabeth, southwestern Uganda.
The grant which is being provided by MacArthur Foundation's Conservation and Sustainable Development (CSD) progam will help ensure park staff receive training on major diseases that affect wildlife, people and livestock and on techniques for establishing baseline data on wildlife health.
The 3 year project is designed to conserve large landscapes, help local authorities better manage conservation efforts, and research new approaches to conservation efforts in Africa's Albertine Rift Region. A wild animal health monitoring system will be set up which will include a data sharing component for officers working in public health, livestock and wildlife sectors.
